Religious broadcaster: Christians 'must' prep for martyrdom over gay marriage
While speaking at a conference titled "U-Turn: A Conversation with Pastors on Society, Culture and Leadership," Sandy Rios,
director of governmental affairs for the American Family Association
and host of a daily radio program, said that Christians should prepare
for martyrdom if the Supreme Court rules in favor of gay marriage, the Raw Story reported Friday. Worse yet, she said such a ruling could crush America.
“Homosexual marriage is going to bring about the tip of the spear of the battle we’re going to face,” she told the gathering of conservative Christian pastors and activists. "There is persecution afoot," she declared, warning that if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the gay agenda, "your wives, your sisters, your children who now are going to be forced to go into public restrooms and share them with men dressed like women."
In response, she said Christians would be faced with a choice if the Supreme Court strikes down laws banning same-sex marriage, possibly as early as next month. Christians, she added, must be prepared to take a stand.
“If they do, every single person in this room is going to be forced to make a choice, and I’m just telling you: Even if you don’t want to engage in this battle, you will and your people will, and you’d better stand,” she said. Saying the Bible encourages bold action, she said the activists and pastors need to “stop playing it safe.”
"You must prepare for martyrdom,” she said. “I don’t know what it’s going to look like, but it’s coming.”
Predictably, the left-wing hate machine sprang into action, with a number of critics attacking Rios on her Facebook page. One person, for example, expressed hope that Rios would be the first to die.
"Will you be the first martyr??" one person asked. "[O]ne can only hope."
"Thank you for sharing your beliefs," another person said. "They are ugly. Please stop sharing them."
Rios, however, is not the only conservative to sound the alarm over gay marriage. Cal Thomas, a conservative Christian whose articles appear in publications across the country, called gay marriage a sign of the end times predicted in the Bible and said he believes the Court will rule against traditional marriage.
"If you read the Scriptures, as I do, in both testaments all of these things are forecast in prophesies, in the book of Daniel and what Jesus and Paul said, so I'm not worried about it,” Thomas told the Huffington Post. “I say everything is right on schedule. I’m trying to shore up my own family first and, hopefully, that will be an example to other people… If you look at not only what Jesus said, but Paul the Apostle, about what things would be like in the end times, people will be lovers of lies rather than the truth. They will elevate things that are called abomination in scripture to normality… All of the prophesies up to the final ones have come true. And that’s why I say that everything is right on schedule.”
Proponents of gay marriage have also let the cat out of the bag. As we reported in 2013, lesbian activist Masha Gessen admitted that gay marriage is a lie designed to destroy the institution of traditional marriage. Naturally, anyone who disagrees is automatically labeled a bigot, as we have reported multiple times.
In one instance, two Christian pastors in Idaho faced the real possibility of arrest and jail for refusing to perform gay weddings. The Coeur d'Alene city attorney, however, said the pastors were exempt from the anti-discrimination code since the chapel filed as a religious corporation. In another instance, gay sex columnist Dan Savage told Bill Maher he wished all Republicans were "f-g dead." As we have reported in the past, Christian-owned businesses have been threatened and terrorized for refusing to support gay wedding ceremonies.
Some have lost their job for opposing gay marriage and others, like young Madeleine McAulay, have received death threats. Meanwhile, liberals profess to support "diversity" while at the same time proving theirs is an ideology of rage and hate.
